1. How would you describe your musical style?
My style is in line with melodic rappers such as Lil Peep, Tracy, Horse Head, Juice Wrld, etc.
My music is about pain, struggles, and survival. It all comes straight from the heart. My raps are more focused on melody and raw emotion than ego trips or party songs. I make music for the lost, lonely, and broken, because I am one of them.
2. What is the first album you owned?
“The Sinister Urge” by Rob Zombie was the first album I owned. It was a cassette my parents let me buy and I listened to it every day. I still love Rob as a musician and filmmaker.
3. How do you prepare before going up on stage?
I like to jump into the deep end of the pool. I get on stage and just let my inner self shine through. No barriers. 1Fang is not a persona but rather an extension and outlet for my pain. I take some deep breaths and go for it. That’s the only way to learn and grow, in my opinion.
4. If we’re going to buy you a drink, what should it be?
I don’t much care for most alcohol but I love a glass or three of red wine.
5. What’s a song that has been stuck in your head these days?
“Children of the Grave” by Black Sabbath. Ozzy is one of my idols. I play bass guitar so I love hearing Geezer slaying the bass.
6. Who’s your favorite artist?
My favorite band is Alice In Chains. I’ve been hooked since the age of 16. I was enamored by the “Dirt” album, I would say that record changed my life and even saved my life. Rest In Peace to the great Layne Staley.
As far as the rap scene goes, Peep is my muse. His style totally changed my perception of what rap can be.
7. Tell us about the first song you made. Was it a success or a failure?
My first song was recorded in February of 2021, called “Doomer Girl”. It flopped and received much hate but I learned a lot from that song. I had no idea what I was doing at the time.
8. What is the story behind “damaged”?
“Damaged” deals with the struggles of feeling isolated and lost in my own head. It is a dark poem. I latched onto the beat instantly and the words just flowed. I wrote and recorded the song in one day, about three takes to get it right. My friend ZOOTED! worked his mixing and mastering magic to polish the song.
9.If you could pick one or the other, what would you choose, the money or the fame?
Fame. No question. Wealth cannot buy happiness, so my goal is to reach as many people as possible through my music. If I can make an impact on someone’s life and show them that they’re not alone, I am happy with that. I want to be known and remembered, to leave a legacy.
10.If you could go back in time or in the future, which one would you choose and why?
I believe time is relative and more of a construct than anything. That being said, traveling to the future is a thought that scares me. I don’t want to know what this mixed up world will be like. I would rather see the past and meet all the beautiful, late artists who inspire me to this day.
