Interview With Corey Stone

1. What’s your name? My name is Corey Stone
2. Where are you from?I’m from Columbia, South Carolina
3. How old are you?I am 27
4. When did you start making music?
I started making music in 2015 but they were more so covers to put on YouTube. Now I’m using GarageBand as my DAW. I also used to arrange marching band music.
5. How serious are you about your career? I’m definitely serious about my career. Music has always been apart of me since i was able to pick up an instrument in elementary school (2000) so i take pride in being a musician not only for the music but also for the relevance one feels to certain songs and the ability to relieve one’s stress
6. Have you ever thought about quitting music?Yes but not all together. I love to perform but on the industry side, unless you know the right people, it’s a real struggle to get noticed especially when you feel you’re doing all the right things. You start to compare and question yourself and your abilities which takes away from your productivity which therein makes you complacent. But you just have to keep pushing, have faith in yourself and really understand that it takes time and hard work to get where you want to be.
7. Who inspires you the most? The people around me who are in my circle. Each and everyone of them is doing something to better achieve their lifelong goals every day. Just seeing that productivity and hard work makes me want to go harder.
8. What got you into making music? I’ve always loved listening to music and breaking down each part mentally in my head. They way everything meshes when you put it back all together is just amazing! So being able to go through that creative process when making music is what i think got me into doing it.
9. Who is your favorite producer? At the moment it’s this guy in my hometown (Columbia, SC) named Travis Palmer. He can literally make nothing into something!!
10. What is one of your best songs/beats?At the moment it’d be the “Hrs & Hrs” cover i have out.
11. Are you signed to a record or labelNo i am not
12. Have you ever performed?Yes. I have been performing since i was in elementary school. I Joined band in middle school and was in marching band high school through college so i performed with the marching band, concert band, and jazz band. Since 2014 I’ve been performing live with different bands in SC and doing solo gigs on my own ranging from small gatherings to weddings.
13. Who would you most likely collaborate with? If we talking big names then; Anderson paak, Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic, Terrace Martin, Snoop Dogg, and Tems to name a few.
14. If you could open for any artist who would it be?Silk Sonic
15. What’s next for you?Well right now I’m working on an EP that i plan on dropping in May which consists of covers songs but with a different feel than the original. Definitely hope that the world enjoys it!
