Interview with Jonathan Castellanos

1. What’s your name?

My name is Jonathan Castellanos. But I usually go by MonoFox.

2. Where are you from?

I’m from Van Nuys CA.

3. How old are you?

I am 28 years old.

4 .When did you start making music

I started making music around 12 years old. I remember sitting at the computer fiddling with notation software my dad had on it.

5. How serious are you about your career?

Serious enough I suppose. My goal at the end of the day is to make a decent living off of my music and art to support my wife and our future children. Perhaps to live will. But If the Lord wills.

6. Have you ever thought about quitting music?

A couple times. Im not sure I really can though to be honest.

7. Who inspires you the most?

Too many people inspire me to be honest.

Music wise the compositions of Joe Hisaishi, John Williams, John Powell, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Koji Kondo, Daft Punk, and a load of others inspire me I’d say.

I’m my personal life, I’d say my wife, and many other in my church and family do.

8.What got you into making music?

I grew up in a family of musical people. My parents are musicians in their free time, my aunt does music professionally, grandparents did music throughout their lives for church and fun. So I grew up with it. Plus I wanted to make animated movies as a kid, so I got into making music because I wanted to make soundtracks for my animations.

9.Who is your favorite producer?

Good question. Daft Punk comes to mind.

10. What is one of your best songs/beats?

I’m still proud of this one I did:

11. Are you signed to a record or label?

No. Personally, I might just run my own for my own music.

12. Have you ever performed?

No but I might one day

13. Who would you most likely collaborate with?

If daft punk were still around, I’d love to with them.

14. If you could open for any artist who would it be?

I’m not sure to be honest.

15. What’s next for you?

Lord willing, I’ll make a living off of my music.
