What do you do?
I am a singer-songwriter, writing songs in
a contemporary folk and singer-songwriter style.
How long have you been making music?
I have been writing my own music for the last 10 years
and I have been performing and touring for
that amount of time as well.
Who’s your biggest inspiration?
My biggest inspirations are Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs,
Phoebe Bridgers and Scottish musician, Dick Gaughan.
What genre of music do you create?
I write in singer-songwriter style but my music has blends of
contemporary folk, indie-folk, folk and singer-songwriter, indie-rock and folk-pop.
What are some features you have?
I have been featured on national TV and radio and on international radio
as well such as Amazing Radio and Amazing Radio USA. I have also been
covered in magazines and online blogs such as The Scotsman Arts and
NewFoundSound. I have also been placed on Spotify playlists and
playlists on other platforms such as
Apple Music, Deezer and Tidal.
Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
I would love to work with anyone who is interested in and passionate about
my music but, if I could pick, it would be great to be in a studio with
Neil Young. His music has left such a huge impact on my own and it
would be great to work with him on future projects.
Are you signed to a label?
No, I am not.
Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
I would be open to talking about a deal of some kind but only if it worked
for all parties involved. Where my music is right now is not terrible
though it’s reach could be bigger. I would be interested in talking
about a deal if it could help me improve so that I
can reach more people.
What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on a few things. Firstly, I am working on a new collaboration
with myself and a hip-hop band from London. This is a new venture for me, taking me
out of my comfort-zone but I am really enjoying focussing only on my singing for a
change. Second, I am writing some of my own songs as well and will see where they
lead, it would be great if an album came from this but a run of singles or even
an EP would be good as well. I have a lot of ideas and themes that I want to
work with so capturing this on an album is my aim, ultimately. Third, I have
some shows in Europe coming up which I am preparing for, working on
a setlist and organising merch.
What is your latest release?
My latest release is called Some Call This Normal. It was out on 29.04.22 and it has
had widespread coverage on online radio, been featured in blogs and it has been
placed in several playlists curated by people here in Scotland as well as some
international playlists. So far, the song has more than 5000 streams on
Spotify. I am continuing to support this release by arranging
interviews and radioplay.
When is your next release?
I am hoping to have something recorded and ready for release in the late
summer and then another record at the end of the year as well.
