Nicki Minaj’s increasingly public alignment with Donald Trump has remained a lightning rod for controversy—and late-night television wasted no time jumping in. During his opening monologue this week, Jimmy Kimmel took sharp aim at both Trump and Nicki Minaj, mocking what he framed as a transactional relationship centered around Trump’s so-called Gold Card.
According to Kimmel, the Trump Gold Card is designed to fast-track U.S. citizenship for wealthy applicants willing to pay a $1 million fee to the U.S. Treasury, plus an additional $15,000 DHS processing fee. The program reportedly hinges on whether the applicant can provide a “substantial benefit to the United States.” However, Kimmel questioned Minaj’s claim that she didn’t pay for the card at all.
“But she didn’t buy one,” Kimmel joked, alleging that Trump simply gave it to her. He framed the situation as a mutually beneficial exchange—Minaj gets expedited residency, while Trump gets a high-profile Black celebrity ally. “It’s the art of the deal,” Kimmel quipped, before calling the situation “nuts.”
Kimmel also highlighted what he described as contradictions in Minaj’s past statements, referencing her comments about previously living in the U.S. illegally. He expressed disbelief that someone who openly discussed that history would now be welcomed into Trump’s inner circle, suggesting loyalty to Trump changes the rules. “If you pledge allegiance to Orange Julius,” he joked, “it’s different.”
The comedian pushed the satire further, suggesting that Trump’s fondness for Minaj might extend to granting her virtually anything she wanted. In an exaggerated bit, Kimmel joked that Trump might even offer her a monument—or a nuclear weapon—mockingly suggesting she could use it against her longtime rival Cardi B.
Despite the ridicule from Kimmel and others, Minaj has shown no sign of backing down from her support of Trump. Instead, she’s been increasingly vocal and confrontational toward critics. One recent flashpoint was her heated back-and-forth with former CNN host Don Lemon, whom she blasted over his coverage of an anti-ICE protest in Minnesota following recent tragedies.

Lemon’s reporting reportedly led to his arrest on allegations of violating federal law by interfering with people’s right to worship. While Minaj has not directly addressed that development, she did respond aggressively to Lemon’s criticism of her, lashing out at him during an appearance on The Katie Miller Podcast.
As the backlash continues—from late-night hosts to journalists—Nicki Minaj appears unmoved, doubling down on both her political stance and her willingness to confront anyone who challenges it.
