Beyoncé fans are celebrating after a major update in the case involving stolen unreleased music connected to the singer’s team. According to reports from TMZ, a man identified as Kelvin Evans has accepted a plea deal related to the theft of hard drives and other valuable materials tied to Beyoncé’s touring operation.
Investigators accused Evans of breaking into a rented SUV used by members of Beyoncé’s crew and stealing several items, including a hard drive that allegedly contained unreleased music. Authorities say the incident occurred shortly before one of Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour stops in Atlanta.
Surveillance footage reportedly played a major role in the investigation. According to WXIA-TV, cameras allegedly captured Evans breaking into the rented Jeep days before the Atlanta concert date. Prosecutors later stated that while the case against him was considered strong, some elements remained circumstantial, which factored into the plea agreement.
Beyond the unreleased music, investigators claimed the stolen items also included jump drives containing production footage plans, show setlists from past and upcoming performances, laptops, headphones, and designer sunglasses.
Earlier in the case, Evans pleaded not guilty and reportedly rejected a separate plea offer back in March. At one point, he was facing up to six years behind bars if convicted on all charges.
Under the final agreement, Evans pleaded guilty to one count of entering an automobile, while a criminal trespass charge was merged into the first count. Because authorities reportedly classified him as a repeat offender, he will not be eligible for parole.
The final sentence includes two years in prison followed by three years of probation.
