Caz Aglets: A Cosmodelic Soundtrack to Authentic Living

Detroit’s own Caz Aglets has been surrounded by music for as long as he can remember. Growing up, his parents’ records and his siblings’ eclectic tastes shaped his ear early on, with funk playing a starring role. “My family remembers me dancing to James Brown as a kid,” he recalls. That love expanded into George Clinton, P-Funk, and later experimental influences like Tyler, the Creator, Toro y Moi, and Flying Lotus. By 2015, what started as playing around with FL Studio had transformed into a serious recording journey.

Caz describes his sound as “cosmodelic”—a universe of blended influences, synthesized into something new. His creative process is fluid, led by feeling: “When the beat talks to me, the melody or cadence comes next. Then I put down exactly how I feel in that moment.”

Authenticity fuels his work. Whether love, frustration, or pure turn-up energy, he insists on staying true to himself: “The truth is worth more than everything, so I’d rather stand on whatever, good or bad.”

That spirit drives his latest project, Year of the Snake, a 7-track offering inspired by the 2025 Wood Snake year in the Chinese zodiac. “It’s about personal growth, strategic thinking, and letting go of the past to make way for new beginnings,” he explains. After a challenging year, the project feels like a rebirth.

Caz has already shared stages and studios with names like Jimmy Park at Chicago’s Classick Studios and South Carolina’s Stick and B Trap the Wizard. But his ambitions stretch further. He dreams of diamond plaques, Grammys, and leaving a legacy that makes Detroit proud.

“Music is my life. I want to buy my mom a house, put my city on my back, and take this wave past the stratosphere,” he says. For Caz, music isn’t just sound—it’s timeless truth.
