From the sunlit streets of Fort Myers, Florida, emerges an artist whose voice echoes with raw emotion, introspective storytelling, and indie-pop nostalgia: Nate Caves. At just the beginning of his journey, Nate has already carved out a sound that merges the aching vulnerability of Juice WRLD, the moody textures of XXXTentacion, and the alternative pulse of Maroon 5—yet remains unmistakably his own.
Drawing heavy influence from the emo trap wave of 2018, Nate’s music is a therapeutic blend of heartbreak, anger, and growth. His latest release, “Devil in an Angel’s Skin,” is a gripping five-minute odyssey that showcases not only his growth as a songwriter, but also his ability to captivate across shifting energies. Inspired by Maroon 5’s “Not Coming Home,” Nate fuses searing guitar riffs, haunting melodies, and raw lyricism into a track that’s as catchy as it is cutting. The repeated use of the word “liar” in the final act hammers home the core message—unmasking betrayal.
His songwriting process is as deliberate as it is inspired. Nate begins each song with a title that acts as the emotional nucleus, and from there crafts full verses, choruses, and bridges that serve the concept. Collaborating closely with his producer over FaceTime or in studio, the two meticulously bring each track to life, tweaking melodies and guitar leads until the emotion fits just right.
While Nate hasn’t yet collaborated with other artists, his partnership with his producer adds a layer of creative synergy that shines through in each release. His 2023 EP “Lost” chronicled the raw emotional rollercoaster of a real high school breakup, culminating in the cathartic track “Let Go”—a personal turning point in Nate’s confidence and vocal delivery.
Balancing music with academics, Nate—an IB student and academic achiever—used every spare minute to fuel his passion. Whether crafting music after class or recording during the weekend, his discipline is as impressive as his vulnerability.
