LSU Tiger Girls Go Viral With Kendrick Lamar–Inspired Routine, Earn National Runner-Up Finish

LSU Tiger Girls delivered one of the most talked-about performances of the weekend at the UDA College and Dance Team National Championships, earning second place in both the Hip Hop and Jazz categories thanks to a powerful routine set to a medley of Kendrick Lamar’s biggest hits.

The routine quickly caught fire online after Louisiana State University shared a video of the performance on its official Instagram page. Alongside the clip, the school celebrated the achievement, noting that the Jazz placement marked the highest finish in program history.

“Second place in Hip Hop and Jazz, with the highest Jazz placement in program history,” the caption read. “Thank you @lsutigergirls for the iconic performances and unforgettable moments. Geaux Tigers!”

Fans immediately flooded social media with praise, applauding both the execution and the bold musical choice. One user on X called the routine “a statement,” while another described the Kendrick Lamar mashup as “SO good,” echoing a wave of support that’s continued to grow as the clip circulates.

The moment comes at a fitting time for Kendrick Lamar, who has plenty of momentum of his own. Earlier this month, the rapper was revealed as a nominee in five categories at the iHeartRadio Music Awards 2026 ceremony, including Artist of the Year and Hip-Hop Artist of the Year. His collaboration with SZA, “luther,” from the album GNX, is also up for Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Hip-Hop Song of the Year.

Just ahead of the nominations, GNX was named Spotify’s most-streamed rap album of 2025, outperforming projects like MUSIC, CHROMAKOPIA, and Graduation.

Kendrick’s dominance extended to the live stage as well. His Grand National Tour with SZA was reported as the highest-grossing rap tour of 2025, pulling in an estimated $369.6 million worldwide.

Between Kendrick Lamar’s historic run and LSU’s viral performance, the Tiger Girls’ routine felt less like a one-off dance—and more like a moment where music, culture, and competition collided perfectly on a national stage.
