For many independent artists, getting the attention of established names in the music industry can take years. For Mets, it’s already starting to happen.
The 19 year old Boston rapper, born Joey Metrano, has been steadily building momentum in the independent hip hop scene. While still early in his career, Mets has already begun connecting with artists who are well established in the industry.
One of those moments came when he had the opportunity to speak with Dreamville artist JID, known for his sharp lyricism and respected presence in hip hop. Conversations like that helped Mets gain perspective on the long term process of building a career in music.
He has also collaborated with artists such as 2KBABY and KillBunk, experiences that have helped expand his network and push his sound into new territory.
His latest release, “Drake Maye Freestyle” featuring KillBunk, is another step forward. The track dropped during Super Bowl weekend and quickly began gaining traction, with the music video already surpassing 7,000 views within its first week.
