Waka Flocka Flame Trys To Cancel Columbus Day

Hip-hop sensation Waka Flocka Flame stirred the pot on social media as he called for the abolishment of Columbus Day, labeling it a “spit in our faces” for Black individuals in the United States. In an unexpected move, he directed his message to former President Donald Trump, sparking discussions among fans about the timing and choice of addressing a former leader instead of the current one, Joe Biden.

Waka Flocka Flame’s tweet, posted on January 21, 2024, read, “Dear Trump abolish Christopher Columbus Day… As a what’s called Blackman in United States this holiday is a spit in our faces… Thanks from Waka Flocka Flame and the People!!!” The holiday, alternatively recognized as Indigenous Peoples Day, aims to acknowledge and respect the contributions and resilience of Indigenous peoples.

The Neighborhood Talk shared a screenshot of Waka Flocka Flame’s post on Instagram, triggering diverse reactions from fans. Some questioned the rapper’s approach, while others applauded his bold stance against a holiday associated with Christopher Columbus.

This isn’t the first time Waka Flocka Flame has used his platform to express political opinions. Last October, he endorsed Trump for the 2024 election, showcasing the artist’s willingness to engage in discussions beyond the realm of music.
