Wedding bells are officially ringing for Young Thug and Mariah The Scientist. The YSL rapper took his relationship to the next level by proposing to his longtime girlfriend and musical collaborator during his Hometown Hero benefit concert at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on Tuesday, December 16.
In a moment that instantly sent the crowd into a frenzy, Young Thug paused his performance and dropped to one knee in front of Mariah, who had just joined him onstage. As the words “Will You Marry Me?” lit up the massive screen behind them, Thugger asked the simple but powerful question. Mariah’s response was immediate and joyful as she encouraged him to “put it on,” proudly showing off the diamond ring once it was placed on her finger.
Turning to the audience, Mariah smiled and announced, “I guess we’re getting married!” which sparked thunderous applause and screams throughout the arena.
The couple has been together since 2021 and has often blended their romance with creativity, collaborating on multiple songs and even portraying a bride and groom in the music video for “Walked In.” Their bond was especially tested during Young Thug’s lengthy YSL RICO case, which kept him incarcerated for more than two years. Throughout that time, Mariah remained loyal and vocal about her commitment.
In a 2023 interview, she reflected on their journey, saying the experience only strengthened their relationship and confirmed her belief that Thug was “the one.”
While their relationship faced turbulence following his release in October 2024 — including a brief public fallout over a leaked jail call — Thug publicly apologized, reaffirming his love and dedication to Mariah.
Now, with an engagement sealed in front of thousands of fans, the couple appears ready to turn the page and step confidently into their next chapter together.
