21 Savage’s American Dream Soars to the Top of Billboard 200

In a triumphant chart-topping feat, 21 Savage has once again claimed the throne on the Billboard 200 with his latest album, “American Dream.” Released on January 12, the album swiftly climbed to No. 1, showcasing 21 Savage’s highest first-week sales as a solo artist, totaling an impressive 133,000 album-equivalent units.

This marks the Atlanta rapper’s fourth No. 1 album, narrowly surpassing the debut week of his previous solo endeavor, “i am > i was,” which opened with 131,000 units and later earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards.

While 21 Savage’s solo career continues to thrive, it’s noteworthy that his most significant sales weeks stem from notable collaborations. His track “Her Loss” alongside Drake earned a staggering 404,000 first-week units, and the collaborative effort with Metro Boomin on “Savage Mode 2” achieved 171,000 units.

“American Dream” features a star-studded lineup, including Young Thug, Travis Scott, Lil Durk, Summer Walker, Brent Faiyaz, and more. The surprise release was met with anticipation, and its impact extended beyond the music realm. An accompanying biopic, also titled “American Dream,” starring Donald Glover, Caleb McLaughlin, and 21 Savage himself, is set to unveil the rapper’s journey from London to the U.S.

Praising the “deeply intimate” lyricism, Schube notes, “American Dream” showcases 21 Savage at his most vulnerable, treating the recording booth as a diary, providing fans with a panoramic view of his life and career.

As 21 Savage continues to make waves, his impact on the hip-hop scene remains undeniable, solidifying his status as a chart-topping force with each release.
