Hailing from the rugged terrains of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Austin Arndt, known by his stage name YT, is a rapper with a message. Drawing inspiration from musical legends like Jelly Roll, Scott Storch, and Yelawolf, YT’s style is a unique blend of emotion-driven, multi-genre rap. He pours his heart into his music, channeling his personal experiences and struggles into every beat and lyric.
For YT, music is more than just an art form—it’s a lifeline. His creative process is deeply tied to his sobriety journey. “Every song has meaning,” YT says, whether it’s about finding joy or overcoming hardship. Music has been a tool for him to vent and heal, and his lyrics often reflect themes of growth and personal evolution. His latest work is no exception. He’s currently working on an EP with Epidemic Beats and two albums, including Austin, which dives deep into his life and offers a more intimate perspective. Alongside that, he’s also putting together Pushing Buttons, a high-energy project filled with fierce collaborations.
YT thrives on collaboration, always seeking to connect with fellow artists. His upcoming EP with Taysty Beats features heavy hitters like Stevie Stone and Taebo The Truth, with potential for more collaborators to join if they align creatively.
Maintaining authenticity is key for YT. Whether he’s singing a pop-rap tune or delivering a raw, horrorcore track, he stays true to his emotions and instincts. It’s this honesty that has helped him forge a genuine connection with his audience. Despite working a full-time blue-collar job in the mines, YT balances his responsibilities as a father and husband with his passion for music. For him, staying busy is not just about avoiding relapse—it’s about forging a positive path forward.
One of YT’s most significant turning points came when he got sober and began using music as his habit replacement. Touring with Scum gave him insight into the business side of music, including merchandise and fan engagement. Now, he’s focused on his ultimate goal: living off his music, spending more time with his family, and inspiring others with his journey.
