Porter Jinkins, a Far Rockaway native, has been crafting raw and relatable music for the past 8 years. His journey started with a single titled Breaking Point, a project that opened the door to a versatile sound that spans trap, hip-hop, R&B, and more. His music is a direct reflection of life, and with every verse, he takes listeners on a ride through his experiences, offering something for everyone from all walks of life.
Although Porter is an independent artist and not signed to a label, he’s gained recognition in the industry, including a shoutout from Bobby Shmurda for his single My Pistol. He has collaborated with several notable figures, and his ambition to make it big is ever-present. His ultimate goal is to sign a distribution deal, allowing him to take his career to the next level while keeping his creative freedom intact.
One of Porter’s biggest inspirations comes from life itself, which serves as the backbone for his music. When asked about working with anyone, whether dead or alive, he mentions a mix of influential figures such as his cousin Mario Young aka M-Nice, Whitney Houston, Biggie Smalls, and Tupac, showing the depth and diversity of his musical influences.
Not just a rapper, Porter is heavily involved in every aspect of his craft. He not only writes his own material but also conceptualizes his music videos. This DIY mentality pushes him to take control of his artistic vision, ensuring his story is told exactly as he envisions it.
His latest release, S.O.B (Standing on Business), speaks to his ambition and determination. And while Porter is currently working on another EP, he continues to perform in front of ever-growing audiences. One of his most notable gigs was opening for heavyweights like Dave East, King Combs, and Jadakiss at a NJ venue.
Looking five years ahead, Porter envisions himself on top of the game with his own artist, helping others find their voice just as he has.
