Drake And SZA Reportedly In The Running To Headline Coachella

Drake and SZA could be headed for the California desert next year.

The two superstars have reportedly emerged as leading candidates to headline Coachella 2027, according to a new report from Hits Daily Double. The development comes just days after Drake was first mentioned as a potential headliner for the festival.

The latest report adds SZA to the conversation, putting two of the biggest names in contemporary hip-hop and R&B among the artists being considered for one of music’s biggest festival stages. Alternative rock giants Radiohead are reportedly also in the running.

The situation reportedly changed after BTS, who had initially been expected to headline, pulled out of negotiations. That opened the door for other major acts, with Drake now reportedly among the frontrunners.

A Coachella headline slot would represent an interesting move for Drake. Although he remains one of the biggest artists in the world, the Toronto superstar has been relatively selective about major U.S. festival appearances in recent years. He did headline Wireless Festival in the U.K., but a Coachella performance would put him back on one of America’s most prominent festival stages.

The timing could also make sense for Drake’s touring plans. During the rollout for his FOMO project, the rapper confirmed plans to tour internationally in 2027. With Coachella traditionally taking place in April, the festival could potentially fit into the schedule for his ICEMAN World Tour.

SZA, meanwhile, would bring an extensive catalog of her own to the festival. The R&B superstar has established herself as one of the genre’s biggest crossover acts, giving her more than enough material to anchor a headlining performance.

Radiohead would offer Coachella an entirely different direction, with the legendary British group bringing its alternative-rock catalog to the desert.

For now, however, none of the reported headliners have been officially announced. Drake, SZA, and Radiohead remain possibilities as organizers work toward finalizing the 2027 lineup.

If Drake ultimately lands the slot, it could mark one of his biggest U.S. festival appearances in years—and if SZA joins him as a fellow headliner, Coachella could be setting up a particularly strong showing for hip-hop and R&B in 2027.
