Drake’s Attorney Fires Back at UMG Over Defamation Case Delay Request

Drake’s legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG) is heating up, with his attorney Michael J. Gottlieb blasting the label for allegedly stalling the case. After UMG requested a delay in their pretrial conference, Gottlieb responded with a scathing four-page document accusing the label of dodging legal proceedings. He claims UMG has been aware of Drake’s defamation claims since last July and is intentionally dragging its feet. Gottlieb urged the court to deny UMG’s request, arguing that the label is trying to “circumvent” the legal process. This case, sparked by Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” is quickly becoming one of the most unexpected rap industry legal battles of the year.
