Interview with David MJ Pictou a.k.a. Jakk Trippa

David MJ Pictou, known in the music scene as Jakk Trippa, hails from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada. With 25 years in the game, he’s seasoned, self-signed, and still making waves in the hip-hop world. Inspired by legends like Nate Dogg, 2Pac, and D.O.C., Jakk Trippa’s style reflects a blend of old-school vibes with a contemporary edge.

“I’ve been semi-retired for a bit, but we good over here,” Jakk Trippa chuckles over the phone, his deep voice resonating with confidence. “All my music is self-penned. Ain’t nobody writing my rhymes but me.”

His latest release, “Big Thang’s,” is a testament to his enduring presence in the game. “I mix all my beats with Able Beats,” he adds, emphasizing his hands-on approach to production.

When asked about dream collaborations, his eyes light up. “I’d give anything to work with Nipsey Hussle. His grind, his vision – that’s real inspiration.”

Despite his laid-back demeanor, Jakk Trippa’s ambition shines through. “In five years? Still hustling. I see myself owning companies, making moves,” he declares, his voice steady with determination.

Reflecting on his journey, he recalls his biggest supporters. “Shout out to my friends, my fans – they keep me going.”

As for touring, he’s got big dreams. “West Coast vibes, man. Snoop, Russ – anyone who keeps it real.”

Though currently not on tour, Jakk Trippa remains focused. “No shows lined up yet, but when I hit, it’s gonna be real.”

For Jakk Trippa, music isn’t just a passion; it’s a way of life. From the East Coast to the West Coast, his beats resonate, telling stories of struggle and triumph, capturing the essence of hip-hop culture.
