Hailing from New Jersey, Si Yak is a pre-med graduate student at the University of Georgia, who has been making music since middle school. However, it was during the quarantine period that Si Yak started taking his music more seriously and began recording his own tracks in his home studio with friends. Since then, he has consistently been making music and has released a few singles on various platforms.
Si Yak’s first recorded track, “bad4me,” was the only song that he didn’t engineer himself. He recorded it at Premier Sound Studio in New Jersey. As for his musical inspirations, Si Yak grew up listening to the likes of Lil Wayne and T-Pain, who taught him how to mesh catchy hooks with quotable bars. As he got more into music himself, he started taking inspiration from independent artists like Russ, who taught him the importance of owning your own music and how to distribute it.
Si Yak creates music in the rap and RnB genres and writes all of his own material. He draws his inspiration from independent artists like Toosii and Rod Wave, whose emotional delivery has influenced his own music. When it comes to his music videos, Si Yak always has a vision and creative input, but it depends on the videographer he works with to bring his vision to life.
Although Si Yak is currently not signed to any record label, he is open to the idea of a distribution or record deal, but he is also happy being an independent artist. He believes the benefits of a record or distribution deal are definitely worth considering. He worked with Finesse Lane Music, a record label out of New Jersey for a short period of time.
Si Yak’s biggest supporters are his family and friends, who have been there for him since the beginning. When it comes to collaborations, Si Yak has some big names on his wish list, including Lil Wayne, J Cole, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and Russ. However, the one person he would love to work with is Lil Wayne.
Si Yak’s latest release is “Hopeless Place,” a track that dropped on Valentine’s Day this year. The accompanying music video was shot and edited by Dinero The Shoota. Si Yak dropped two singles with Will Shmula titled ‘In the Party’ and ‘Danny Green’ that have started to gain some traction. Si Yak is also currently working on a few singles that he plans to drop leading up to a mixtape, which he hopes to release later this year. He is also working on some collaborations with other artists.
With his unique style and emotional delivery, Si Yak is definitely one to watch in the rap and RnB scene. Fans of his music can expect more releases from him in the coming months as he continues to work on his craft and make a name for himself in the music industry.
