J. Cole Slams “Disgusting” Campaign Against Drake During Kendrick Beef, Ebro Pushes Back

J. Cole is continuing his press run with pointed commentary on hip-hop’s most divisive feud. During an upcoming episode of Cam’ron’s Talk with Flee podcast (releasing March 25), the Dreamville founder addressed the Drake-Kendrick Lamar battle, specifically condemning the public appetite for Drake’s downfall.

” [It’s] disgusting how people try to use that opportunity to either show how they really felt about Drake the whole time or just pile on and tear this dude down, and create a narrative as if he’s not great,” Cole stated. “It was a whole campaign, and probably still is to this day.”

However, Ebro Darden offered a sharp counterperspective on The Ebro Laura Rosenberg Show. While acknowledging he was critical of Drake prior to the beef, Ebro emphasized his real-time, on-air responsibilities: “I like all these guys musically, artistically… We respond to things on the fly, bro. Like, it’s happening right now. You did X-Y-Z. What are we supposed to do?”

Ebro then pivoted to personal loyalty, noting: “If we’re keeping it a bean, the only person that supported my show and me is Kendrick Lamar. So like, if we talking about how we pay our bills, y’all ain’t been up here supporting me. None of y’all. Kendrick has.” This remark has sparked debate about whether he’s suggesting Kendrick backed him during his own friction with Drake, or simply referencing long-standing support for Hot 97.

Ebro maintained his commentary never originated from personal animus: “What Kendrick was saying, what Drake was saying… It never got personal for me during the battle. The reason it got personal in the commentary was because their commentary got personal.”
