Kamikaze Livin Is Making Music on His Own Terms

Kamikaze Livin hasn’t always been able to get to a studio. That hasn’t stopped him from recording.

The 22-year-old artist from Columbia, South Carolina, has been making music since childhood. After recording under the names Swervo Brazyy and 1Slimey Swerv and spending time with local label Dosh Entertainment, he is building his next chapter as Kamikaze Livin. His latest EP, Mad Max, is available on YouTube, where he has been sharing his recent releases.

For Kamikaze, releasing on YouTube is a practical choice. It gives him a straightforward way to put music out and gives listeners an easy place to access it. Since leaving Dosh Entertainment, that freedom has allowed him to keep releasing while navigating changes far beyond music.

On his 21st birthday, he says, he was diagnosed with epilepsy. The seizures affected his ability to drive, making it harder to reach the studio and move around as freely as he once had. Performing became more difficult, too, interrupting an important part of his life as an artist.

The impact went beyond a disrupted schedule. Losing that access to studios and shows left him feeling disconnected from the momentum he had been building.

So he returned to BandLab and started recording at home.

“I’d record fresh out hospital & in the crib,” he says.

Those recordings became a way to keep working when his usual routine was no longer possible. With fewer opportunities to get into a traditional studio, he used what he had available to capture new ideas and stay connected to his craft.

That persistence is part of the story behind his current chapter. Kamikaze speaks openly about how difficult the adjustment has been, including the toll it took on his confidence as an artist. He also makes it clear that his ambition is still there.

Versatility is something he takes pride in, and he wants the freedom to explore it as Kamikaze Livin. Having already moved through different artist names and a label experience, he is now focused on developing this identity and putting more music behind it.

Mad Max is his latest release for listeners discovering that journey. With the EP on YouTube, Kamikaze is continuing to build a catalogue while finding a way of working that fits his life now.

He says he feels ready to pick up the pace again.

“Now I feel like I’m back on top my game & ready to get back to work.”

For Kamikaze Livin, making music on his own terms has meant adapting: recording at home, choosing an accessible outlet for his releases, and continuing through circumstances that changed how he creates. As he looks ahead, that same determination is driving his next move.
