Born Gamaliel Porter, named after the biblical teacher Gamaliel the Elder, Leafy was raised by a single mother who instilled in him a relentless sense of purpose. “Why not?” she’d ask—a mindset that carried him through the chaos of his youth. The youngest of four, Leafy came up quick. By five, he was absorbing street codes. By ten, he was hustling to survive. By sixteen, he was living faster than most grown men—driving his own GT coupe and moving through his city with the kind of charisma that made people take notice.
But the streets giveth and the streets taketh. Betrayal came from within. Informants, setups, and the cold steel of jail bars became part of his story. Still, where most would fold, Leafy Not New rebuilt. He found clarity in confinement and walked out with a vow: he would never let his story end behind walls. Music became his mission.
