Scott Pryor, the actor, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and lawyer who has been a major player in the Hollywood entertainment industry for years, is set to kick 2024 off in style with the release of his debut album.

The album’s title is “Wide Awake, ” the latest string in Scott’s multi-faceted bow. Scott is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. Following his service in the Marines, he took up various film projects, which saw him both in front of and behind the camera, as well as making a name for himself in the legal profession as one of the top trial lawyers in the country.

As a screenwriter, producer, actor, and director, he is known for the multi-award-winning films The List, 2019’s Blackbear, and the recent film Tulsa

Each of these films received positive reactions from audiences and critics alike. But while the 2010s were dominated by film, the 2020s saw Scott pursue music, an art form that offered him a chance to delve into more personal subject matter.

Scott’s turn towards music sees him following in the footsteps of his father, who, he recalls, was a noted honky-tonk piano player. Scott’s ambition had always been to focus on music at some stage – and he always dreamed of following in his father’s footsteps.

Scott is no stranger to singing and performing, but his debut album sees him share deeply personal songs.

Across this 12-track album, you get a real sense of being able to peek into the chaos and brilliance of Scott’s mind. With his decade of experience in the entertainment industry, many of these songs offer eye-opening responses to how this industry can revel in excess and fake self-aggrandizement. With that in mind, ‘Cellophane Self’ and ‘Celebrity’ are raw and powerful numbers about the real entertainment world as well as the dark side of social media.

To fully bare his soul to his audience, Scott Pryor went to great lengths to work with a team that shared his ambition and helped create the best version of these songs. Scott worked with musician/vocal coach/producer “Mama Jan” Smith (Rob Thomas, Usher, Justin Bieber) and Jesse Owen Astin, musician/producer (Demi Lovato, Juliet Simms, Billy Ray Cyrus), to help fully realize these pieces of music.

“My vocal coach and mentor, Heidi Huelskoetter (Jan Smith Studios), encouraged me to pursue this project. I am grateful for this team’s songwriting and production skills as they continue to bring out the best in me.”
