Born Dameon Strong in Shelby, Mississippi, this rising artist is redefining Southern Soul by fusing dance grooves, blues roots, and heartfelt storytelling into a genre he calls his own.
Southern Soul Damo isn’t chasing clout—he’s chasing purpose. His biggest motivation? Retiring his hardworking parents. “They’ve worked hard enough,” he says, “and I just want to give them a greater life.” That deep-rooted sense of loyalty and love shows up in every verse he pens and every hook he sings. With musical influences ranging from Michael Jackson and Rod Wave to Jeter Jones and Fetty Wap, Damo pulls inspiration from greatness and channels it into something beautifully grounded and authentic.
His newest single, “Long Road,” is a love letter in song form—dedicated to his fiancée and all those walking through life with someone they truly cherish. It’s a soulful, timeless ballad that resonates far beyond genre lines. “This song will always be inspired by her,” he shares, “but it’s also for anyone who’s found their person.”

From humble beginnings recording out of his Impala and bouncing between relatives’ homes, Damo has climbed steadily, even discovering his musical roots stretch all the way back to the legendary bluesman Robert Johnson—his great-great-grandfather. That bloodline legacy only fuels his fire, driving him to expand what the blues can mean in today’s world.
Though he hasn’t yet done features with major blues names, he dreams of collaborating with Jeter Jones and LJ Echols. With past features in Prove Magazine, Stardom101, and Gen Z Hip Hop, and a powerful hometown performance that brought his family to tears, Damo is laying the foundation for a legacy of his own.
