Tekashi 69 Gets Into Physical Altercation At the World Baseball Classic Quarterfinals

Controversial rapper 6ix9ine, who is half Puerto Rican and half Mexican, disavowed his Puerto Rican heritage while attending the World Baseball Classic quarterfinals game between Mexico and Puerto Rico last Friday. While being interviewed, 6ix9ine was only waving the Mexican flag and explained his choice when asked on camera, saying, “My dad abandoned me. [He’s] Puerto Rican!” He continued, “I don’t care. I don’t care. My mom raised me Mexican…. My mom raised me Mexican, an immigrant. I love my mom with all my heart. She played the role of mother and father for me.”

Later at the event, an altercation took place between 6ix9ine and a fan. While waving his Mexican flag, a number of fans stood up and flipped him off. An unknown man then launched a beer can in his direction, nearly striking him. Despite the incident, 6ix9ine continued to wave the flag until an unknown man approached him, prompting him to stop. According to Baseball Journalist Aram Leighton, the incident took place due to people’s disdain for the 26-year-old rapper. 6ix9ine was relocated by park officials after the incident took place.

This is not the first time 6ix9ine has been involved in an altercation this year. Just a few weeks ago, he crashed his Rolls-Royce Phantom in an unknown location. In a clip that surfaced online, the rapper was on the phone looking for a possible ride out from the frightening situation while surrounded by road assistance for his orange luxury sports car. Earlier that same month, he was involved in an alleged altercation with rapper Anuel AA’s brother.

What do you think of 6ix9ine’s disavowal of his Puerto Rican heritage? Do you think he should embrace his entire heritage, or is it understandable for him to disassociate from his father’s side due to abandonment? What do you think of the altercations 6ix9ine has been involved in recently? Do you think he is targeted because of his controversial past?
