What is your name/stage name?
My name is DreyaTheSlayya but, if I’m
feelin edgy it’s Dreya The MF Slayya.
Where are you from?
I’m from the Phoenix area primarily.
What do you do?
I write, I rap, I sing, I have fun whenever and wherever
I am. I also shine and I sparkle. Always stickin’ out.
How long have you been making music?
I have been creating music since I was 12 years old,
maybe a bit younger.
Who’s your biggest inspiration?
Cece Peniston is my biggest inspiration because, she was and
still is my Auntie that watched me grow from a baby to who I
am now. She’s been an active part of my life and I’ve
learned first hand from her the struggles of the
entertainment industry and how to still remain
strong and true to yourself
no matter the outcome.
What genre of music do you create?
I do Hip-Hop but, I also do R&B.
What was it like working with (collabs?)
It was fun and a big learning experience, you get to see other
peoples’ styles and music types and it gives me more ideas with
how I can make certain songs sound in the future.
What are some features you have?
One right now with Kswizz, it’s not out yet.
What are some features you want to get?
Definitely need one with Stunnagirl, and Kanye,
maybe Toosi too.
Who’s one person, dead or alive, that you’d want to work with?
Nicki Minaj. Period.
Are you signed to a label?
Not at the moment.
Do you want a record deal, a distribution deal, or none?
I would take a record deal but, would have to probably negotiate
something with a distribution deal.
Who are your biggest supporters?
My best friend Miah and a few associates.
Where did your name come from?
Originally my name was given to me by an ex-boyfriend of mine that
I had met in 8th grade but, it was originally “DreyatheDamsel”
beforehand. He got “Dreya” from my legal middle name which is
“Alexandreya” and he gave me the nickname damsel as if I were
like a damsel in distress but, I didn’t like that as I grew
older and how it sounded like I was a Disney princess or
something. Eventually I grew more confident in myself
and I’d receive the remark “You slay” a lot at school
or wherever I was pretty much so a light bulb came
on in my head and said “My name is
going to be DreyaTheSlayya”. It’s
unique. Different. And it
truly fits me well.
What are you currently working on?
I’m currently working on releasing a freestyle on
June 20th called “I Know”.
What is your latest release?
My single “MF” it dropped April 25,
