Cam’ron has officially filed a lawsuit against J. Cole, claiming the Dreamville rapper failed to follow through on a deal tied to their 2024 song “Ready ’24.”
According to TMZ, the Harlem hip-hop legend says he agreed to appear on Cole’s Might Delete Later track in exchange for one of two things — either a guest verse from Cole or an appearance on his hit YouTube sports show, It Is What It Is.
However, two years have passed since the track was recorded, and Cam alleges that J. Cole has yet to honor their agreement. The Dipset icon claims that despite multiple attempts to collaborate again or feature Cole on his show, his requests have been continuously turned down.
In the lawsuit, Cam’ron is seeking monetary compensation for his contribution to “Ready ’24.” He’s asking the court to recognize him as the co-author of the record so he can receive his rightful share of the song’s earnings. Cam also wants a full financial breakdown of its profits — estimating that he’s owed at least $500,000.
So far, neither artist has publicly addressed the legal dispute.
“Ready ’24,” which samples The Diplomats’ classic “I’m Ready,” marked one of the rare moments where Cam’ron and J. Cole teamed up on wax. The pair previously collaborated on “95. South,” the fiery opener to Cole’s 2021 album The Off-Season, where Cam provided a swagger-filled spoken-word intro and outro.
The lawsuit adds another layer of drama to Might Delete Later, a surprise mixtape J. Cole dropped in April 2024. The project made headlines after including a response track to Kendrick Lamar’s fiery verse on “Like That.” Just days later, Cole publicly apologized to Kendrick during his Dreamville Festival set and vowed to pull the diss song from streaming platforms — a move that divided hip-hop fans.
