B Martin’s Company, Purpose Driven Entertainment, Hits One Billion Streams for Independent Artists

There was a version of this story where Brendan Martin, known professionally as B Martin, hit a billion streams as the artist on the cover. He came close. Over a hundred million streams on his own catalog as a writer and producer. A Top 20 Billboard placement. A #2 on the iTunes Dance charts. Collaborations with Kendrick Lamar, T-Pain, and Juicy J. Shared stages with Mac Miller, J. Cole, Lupe Fiasco, and Steve Aoki. A Hot 97 Summer Jam set, and a SXSW moment where Hot 97, announced by J. Cole himself, named him Best Hip Hop Artist in New York. Record deals offered by Warner. By any reasonable yardstick, B Martin is one of the more accomplished independent artists in the country.

But the billion he’d been chasing showed up from a different direction. In 2021, after spending hundreds of thousands of his own dollars on marketing teams that delivered nothing and watching the artists he was developing get burned the same way, Martin founded Purpose Driven Entertainment. Five years later, the company has generated over a billion streams across more than 1,000 independent artists.

“I was tired of getting taken advantage of,” Martin has said about why he started the company. “I spent hundreds of thousands on different teams, and every time I paid a marketer, I got nowhere. Even the artists I developed were getting burned. So I tapped into my A-list connections, reverse-engineered top artists’ strategies, and started doing it for independent artists. It feeds my soul to make a real difference in an industry that too often exploits artists.”

The proof points have been stacking. In just the last few weeks, Purpose Driven has landed one artist a Billboard Argentina feature, put another on Top 40 records in the UK, and pushed a third into the Top 15 and Top 20 overall on the charts. Another artist Martin coached to go viral crossed 6.2 million views on a single post. And Martin himself, never one to fully retreat from the writer’s room, landed two sync deals with co-writer Maggie Szabo and collaborated with Grammy winner and close friend, Lil Eddie. We’re keeping the names out of it here on purpose – not every artist needs their business in print, and the pattern matters more than the roster – but none of these are anomalies. They’re the kind of week Purpose Driven now runs in regular cycles.

What separates the company from the smoke-and-mirrors crowd is the method. Purpose Driven blends Advanced API Meta Ads, with targeted Spotify playlisting & TikTok Clipping  designed to nudge the algorithm without tripping it. No bots. No fake streams. No campaigns that get pulled at month two. Martin has folded in custom CRM systems, AI-driven workflow automations, and creative direction support so artists can run their careers like businesses without losing the part of themselves that made them want to make music in the first place. The model is closer to what a real label used to do, except the artist keeps everything.

Education is the other arm. Martin’s @mindfulmusicmentor platform, where he writes the 44 Laws of Songwriting and breaks down the marketing craft for an audience of developing artists, has done tens of millions of views and engagement from A-list artists worldwide. He has mentored over 300 million views’ worth of socials across the artists who have come through Purpose Driven’s coaching pipeline. And every year, he participates in Seven Songs songwriting camps alongside Alessia Labate, Ludovica, and Matilda at Amsterdam Dance Event and the Ibiza International Music Summit, putting his clients in the room with writers who chart for a living.

For all the founder talk, B Martin has never stopped being an artist. Last Friday, he returned to his own catalog with the release of “Medicine,” with Ryan Waczek, a dance single that early signals suggest may push him further up the iTunes and Billboard dance charts. The song is streaming almost 20,000 streams per day. It’s refreshing to see an artist who plays full out both as a coach and an artist.
