Artist Focus: YungVV takes his unique pop-trap sound a step further on ‘FYE,’ the standout track from his new EP Numb2Pain

In the last 12 months, New Jersey artist YungVV has emerged as one of the most competent trap-rap artists in the game. His new EP sees him continuing to go from strength to strength with each new release.

In modern trap rap, finding genuinely good music can often be a case of knowing where to look and where to avoid. Let’s face it: the genre is overloaded with mediocre artists, with repetitive production and low-stakes lyrics often being the name of the game.

But artists like New Jersey rising star YungVV show that there’s still a lot of life in trap music and plenty of ways to make it sound fresh.

For those who haven’t yet experienced his music, YungVV landed on the scene in 2019 when he began sharing his music on SoundCloud while studying at Temple University. His tracks made an immediate impression. They were expertly produced, always up-tempo and hype-y, and they showcased VV’s excellent delivery and use of rap vernacular.
