Audia has a name for the world she’s creating: Nocturne City. With her debut single, “Nocturne,” the Brooklyn-based hip hop artist introduces its sound, its atmosphere and the woman at its centre.
Built around cold, industrial textures and futuristic trap production, “Nocturne” is an arrival statement. Its focus is presence: stepping into a space with confidence and authority while bringing femininity and grace along with her. Darkness sets the scene, but Audia sees possibility in it, a space where something can take shape before anyone else knows what it will become.
That vision connects directly to her background. An actress, producer and storyteller with experience in theatre and live performance, Audia approaches music with a cinematic imagination. She often envisions an entire world before a song is finished. Nocturne City gives that instinct a home, establishing a setting she can develop across records, visuals and performances.
Even her name carries part of the concept. Derived from Claudia, Audia also represents an idea: if sound took the form of a woman, this is who she would be. It’s a fitting introduction for an artist whose work considers both what people hear and what they feel before words arrive.
Born a CODA, a child of Deaf adults, Audia developed an early awareness of the different ways people communicate and make themselves understood. She brings that attention to expression into her writing and performances, where movement, emotion and presence help tell the story alongside sound.
Across her music, she identifies three expressions of herself: Grace, Voice and Her. Grace holds the softness. Voice speaks to the spiritual. Her brings the dominant, unapologetic energy. Audia describes these as parts of the same woman, each coming forward depending on what a song needs to say.
“Nocturne” brings all three into the room. Its assertiveness leaves space for the softer and spiritual elements of her identity, introducing the range she plans to explore as her catalogue grows. The single establishes an artist interested in how those qualities coexist, with femininity central to the authority she projects.
Upcoming music will give listeners a closer look at each expression. “Lock It Down” embodies the whimsical softness of Grace, while “Bruno” steps into the boldness of Her. “On God” will speak from Voice, drawing on Audia’s spiritual side. She is also working on her debut EP, expected in early 2027.
For now, “Nocturne” lays the foundation. It gives Nocturne City its first point of entry and introduces Audia as an artist thinking beyond a single release. The world has a name, the sound has an identity, and her opening statement is here.
