Straight outta the East Side of Long Beach, California, Cueva$—real name Alex Cuevas—is redefining the sound of West Coast hip-hop. Proudly Chicano and rooted in both LA and Bay Area traditions, Cueva$ describes his signature sound as LA Blade Music, a gritty-yet-smooth blend that bridges the iconic bounce of LA with the hyphy energy of Northern California.
A Sound Inspired by Legends
Growing up on legends like Nate Dogg, DJ Quik, DPG, Keak Da Sneak, and Mac Dre, Cueva$ inherited a legacy of storytelling, hustle, and rhythm. He also counts Vince Staples—a fellow Long Beach native—as a key influence. “When I make music, I let the coast materialize in my sound,” he says. “I pay homage to those who came before me while paving the way for Chicano West Coast artists.”
Creative Flow: Coast-Inspired and Authentic
Cueva$ doesn’t overcomplicate his process. Whether he starts with a hook or a theme, he lets the beat guide the story. His authenticity bleeds through in every bar: “I’m just me. I’ve never tried to act like an artist. I’m from East Side Long Beach and I’m good peoples.” That raw honesty keeps his music grounded and relatable.
New Single “Good Love” Drops July 31st
His upcoming single “Good Love” drops July 31st, 2025, featuring Bigg Happ and Eric Flames. “It’s a feel-good track to close out summer,” Cueva$ explains. “It reminds people that good love still exists, even if life makes it hard to see sometimes.” The track showcases Cueva$’s ability to deliver emotional depth without losing his street edge.
Grind, Growth, and Giving Back
More than just a rapper, Cueva$ is a businessman on a mission. “I try to show people that you can keep it hood while also creating a business for yourself,” he says. His career took a major leap in 2023 when he signed with a prominent independent label, giving him the opportunity to work with a variety of artists and step into industry rooms that once felt out of reach.
From TikTok collaborations with Cha$eDownDoe, B.Moore, and Winters Lie, to labelmate features with LostValley Records artists like 6ixGen, Zeno X, and GSB Ghost, Cueva$ has kept the momentum going strong—and the fanbase growing.
Social Media, Sacrifice, and Staying Grounded
Cueva$ remains deeply connected to his fans and collaborators online. He’s active on social media, using everything from content creation to music reviews to push his sound. “The motion is coming one way or another,” he says. His motivation comes from younger, independent artists who look up to him. “I can’t let them down. For the first time in my life, I’m viewed as a positive role model.”
Balancing personal life and music hasn’t been easy. “I’ve sacrificed a lot,” he admits. “But I’m on a major push right now. Long-term success is worth it.”
Looking Ahead: Hawaii Dreams and a Legacy in the Making
His dream? To open a music compound and studio in Hawaii—a creative haven where artists can fly out year-round and tap into a productive and peaceful environment. “I want to give artists a space to create, free from distractions,” he says.
Through it all, Cueva$ wants his listeners to walk away with one message: “You can come from the mud and still build something great.” His music isn’t about perfection—it’s about growth, redemption, and representing where you come from with pride.
