Meet Freaky Tlazy: A Voice of Struggle, Survival, and Storytelling

Travis Bernardo Yearby, better known by his stage name Freaky Tlazy, is an emerging artist out of Georgia whose music blends raw honesty with poetic storytelling. Inspired early on by hometown musicians he calls his role models, Freaky Tlazy credits the gritty sound of Lowdown and Dirty with sparking his desire to pursue music.

Over the years, he has connected with talented beatmakers and musicians, even collaborating with the Rockstar band. His style has been described as “Tupacish,” a reflection of both his lyrical depth and his ability to paint vivid pictures of life’s struggles and triumphs. “I poetically draw pictures of the hard feelings, times, and struggles,” he explains.

Though fiercely independent, Freaky Tlazy relates closely with TFE, a collective whose struggles mirror his own. He admits he’s not one to boast, but he takes pride in songs that carry deep meaning, including collaborations reminiscent of legends like Tupac. He notes that some of his underground work—created on nothing more than a phone—already holds gems for those willing to dig.

His motivation stems from more than ambition—it’s about survival and testimony. Having battled addiction, homelessness, incarceration, and the heartbreaking loss of his high school sweetheart, he leans on faith and resilience to push forward. “I overcome it with God’s grace and by never giving in to the pressure,” he shares.

On social media, Freaky Tlazy keeps it real by dancing and showcasing his music, giving fans an authentic glimpse into his world. Looking ahead, he’s excited to drop his next single, a Burn remix featuring Juice Wrld. With his unfiltered reality and relentless drive, Freaky Tlazy is carving out his space in the underground and beyond.
