Born and raised in the vibrant streets of Florida, Quincy Carter—better known by his stage name, Mista K.P.—has always had a deep connection to music. From a young age, the sound of hip-hop and rhythm-filled beats would ignite a passion that led him to pursue a career in the music industry. “Since young, I have always had a strong love for music,” says Mista K.P., and that love has grown into something more profound as the years have gone by.
One of his biggest career highlights has been the moment his music was first distributed. “The first time my music was distributed was a special feeling,” he reflects. This milestone marked the start of his journey as an artist, but his journey is not just about the distribution of music—it’s about staying true to his roots. Mista K.P. describes his sound as one that captures the essence of northwest Florida. While many people associate the state’s music scene with northeast or south Florida, Mista K.P.’s style stands apart. “My sound is special to me because it’s northwest Florida,” he shares.
What truly sets Mista K.P.’s music apart is its authenticity. “Real-life music reaches those who are going through the things we rap about,” he explains. “They can tell if you’re lying because they live the life you claim.” This raw and honest approach to songwriting is a reflection of the artist’s own experiences, including the challenging times he’s faced. One of his greatest achievements? Simply being alive and still making music after enduring three years in Lake Butler Prison. For Mista K.P., surviving and thriving after such hardships is an accomplishment in itself. “I consider that a big achievement,” he says.
Despite the obstacles he’s overcome, Mista K.P. continues to push forward, motivated by his fan base and the love they show. “The love from the fans, no doubt, keeps me going,” he shares. He also credits music itself as a source of motivation, especially during moments of writer’s block. “I listen to music, and it gets me back on track. Music helps the soul, whether country, rap, or rock n roll.”
Looking ahead, Mista K.P. is preparing to release his next single, Step Down, and he’s eager for his fans to hear it. “I want my fans to know me,” he says when asked about engaging with his audience on social media. He enjoys sharing a glimpse into his daily life, unreleased music, and much more.
Mista K.P. remains open to future collaborations, including potential distribution deals. “I’m open to conversations. I have great respect for you guys,” he states with gratitude.
