Jashaun Garrett, better known by his stage name RunItUp, hails from Grand Rapids, MI. Deeply influenced by the likes of Speaker Knockerz and Chief Keef, RunItUp’s music stands out with a unique flair that blends various genres and tones. He prides himself on being experimental, constantly seeking new styles and sounds to captivate his audience.
RunItUp’s creative process is raw and spontaneous. He often writes his songs directly in his phone’s notes app while listening to beats. Sometimes, the inspiration comes from his emotions—whether it’s a tough night, or he’s feeling mad or introspective—he lets those feelings shape his music and searches for the perfect beat later.
The themes in RunItUp’s music vary from life struggles and advice to hard-hitting lyrical hip-hop. He likes to stay on top of trends, remixing and playing with different flows to keep his sound fresh and exciting. His latest project, Ksubiking, is particularly close to his heart. Released in June 2023, the 25-track album was created after the tragic passing of his cousin, who was also his manager. This personal loss continues to fuel his determination to succeed, and fulfilling the dream they shared is now RunItUp’s primary motivation.
RunItUp has also worked with several well-known names, including Band Gang Masoe, RMC Mike, NUK, and Louie Ray, expanding his network and collaborating on dynamic projects. Despite his rising success, RunItUp remains true to himself, valuing authenticity above all. His music reflects his life’s journey, from living in shelters and struggling to survive, to pushing forward and achieving new heights.
RunItUp continues to build his brand through social media, particularly Instagram, where he shares snippets and trailers of his work. He currently runs a network page with around 300 followers, but aspires to grow his reach, hitting milestones like 1 million views on a single video.
