Dalvin Singleton, better known by his stage name LastLetterz, is a rising star in the Southern hip hop and R&B scene. Hailing from the United States, LastLetterz has taken a unique path to music, driven by the desire to explore his creative limits, even if it meant keeping his day job. “I just wanted to see if I could do more with my hobby,” he shares. “Even if nothing pops off, I’ll still be at the crib working my day job, making random grooves.”
For LastLetterz, music has always been a passion rather than a career, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have his sights set on growth. “I don’t need to be a big star,” he confides, “but it would be great to see people enjoy my work.” A humble yet ambitious mindset has allowed him to achieve notable milestones in his career, including performing in his hometown and receiving features on several well-respected music blogs. These moments have not only validated his talents but also deepened his love for the art.
His sound is deeply rooted in Southern hip hop and R&B, a combination that speaks to his influences and his ability to bridge genres. “Dope music is understood,” LastLetterz says, adding that his music resonates with fans because of its authenticity. “If people like my music, that would go a long way.”
Despite being independent, LastLetterz’s approach to music is all about collaboration. Whether through email or word-of-mouth, he’s always on the lookout for a new beat or a fresh idea to work with. “I try to work with anyone I can if we can find a dope beat to create with,” he notes, underscoring his openness to creative partnerships. He also credits his independence for shaping his journey. “I record and promote everything myself,” he proudly states.
One of the major highlights of LastLetterz’s career has been the recognition he’s received from music blogs. It’s a moment of pride for him, as he reflects on how far he’s come from his humble beginnings, especially considering that music was always just a hobby. But his dedication to improvement, both in music and in engagement with his fans, keeps him moving forward. “Getting better at music and seeing people genuinely enjoy my music is what motivates me to keep pushing.”
The journey has not been without its challenges, however. Building his own recording setup was a huge hurdle, especially after years of not having the right mindset. But perseverance paid off, and now LastLetterz is focused on the future, particularly with the release of his next single, “IfeellikeYE,” produced and featuring Mike Brown.
