Virginia native Devonte Kasey Terry, known to the world as KashWitDaBag, is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry. Growing up surrounded by older cousins who influenced his musical taste, Kash was naturally drawn to the art form. It didn’t take long before he discovered his own talent for music production, realizing that he was not only good at it, but had a passion for it. As he honed his craft, he found his place in the music scene, and now his beats are being heard by millions.
Kash’s journey to success isn’t a typical one. Rather than chasing fame or recognition, he let his music speak for itself, leading him to some impressive accomplishments along the way. Notably, he produced for Shoreline Mafia on their song Never Be You from Mafia Bidness Deluxe, and collaborated with Rylo Rodriguez and PEEZY—the latter of which became a big deal when it dropped as the track Fox 2. Kash also worked with various underground artists, proving his versatility across multiple genres and styles.
When asked about his unique sound, Kash describes it as versatile, blending trap with the essence of classic New York hip-hop. “I like trap music but I also grew up on a lot of New York artists, so I vibe with that real ‘rap rap’ music, where the artist is actually dropping bars,” Kash explains. This dual influence is what gives his beats a distinct feel, mixing modern energy with timeless lyricism.
While many artists chase collaborations to expand their reach, Kash prefers to work solo. “I’m all about getting the business done. It’s about the hustle and the money. I’ve worked with teams in the past, but I’m independent now,” he shares. His independent mindset has been crucial in navigating his career. “I had to stay down, keep growing, and take my time. A lot of artists rush into things and give up too quickly. That’s not me,” he says.
The most significant milestone in his career so far has been his placement with Shoreline Mafia. The song went gold, and the recognition was more rewarding than he expected. “It made me feel like I really had a spot in the game,” Kash reflects. And now, as he looks ahead, the next big goal is 100 million streams, a target he’s confident he can hit after reaching 12 million. The momentum is real, and Kash is only getting started.
