West has been at the center of heated criticism following a series of inflammatory remarks. He sparked outrage by aligning himself with Nazi ideology, praising Adolf Hitler, and taking shots at Taylor Swift. Adding to the backlash, he ran a Super Bowl commercial for his Yeezy brand, only to later sell merchandise featuring swastikas, leading Shopify to ban his store.
Music executive Lyor Cohen later released an open letter expressing disappointment over West’s actions. In response, West fired back, accusing Cohen of profiting from hip-hop’s glorification of violence while refusing to take accountability for it.
