T-Pain, the maestro of Auto-Tune, recently unveiled a story that left fans in disbelief – a missed opportunity to collaborate with none other than Michael Jackson and Usher. In a Twitter share, T-Pain played a snippet of the unreleased track and spilled the beans on what led to its demise.
The mid-aughts project was meant to feature T-Pain, Usher, and the King of Pop himself. However, an overexcited reference singer, boasting about the unique collaboration prematurely, threw a wrench in the gears. T-Pain lamented, “And then he released it and then Michael Jackson was like, ‘Nah, never mind. I don’t wanna do it anymore.’ Yeah, that pissed me off. Not gonna lie to ya.”
A reference vocal, the backbone of the collaboration, became the culprit. Despite the setback with Michael Jackson, T-Pain received praise from an unexpected quarter – the legendary Ozzy Osbourne. A cover of Black Sabbath’s “War Pigs” posted on social media caught the attention of Osbourne, who declared it the best rendition ever. T-Pain’s response? “You’re always invited. Top of the list, every time!! Thank you so much. Means a lot coming from the greatness himself.”
The twist in T-Pain’s musical journey doesn’t end there. In a performance at The Sun Rose in West Hollywood, T-Pain showcased his vocal prowess without Auto-Tune, leaving viewers awestruck. His cover lineup included hits like Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin,’” Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come,” and Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me.”
T-Pain’s resilient spirit shines through as he recently announced a Las Vegas residency, exclaiming, “Vegas, Let’s Turn Up!” Despite the missed chance with icons like Michael Jackson, T-Pain continues to captivate audiences and prove his versatility in the ever-evolving landscape of music.
