Young Thug Responds To Rich Homie Quan’s Circle Following Emotional Tribute Backlash

Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan were once one of hip-hop’s most celebrated duos during the 2010s, dominating the scene with their chemistry and countless collaborations under the Rich Gang era. But after years of fallout and distance between the two artists, tensions surrounding their relationship have resurfaced following Quan’s passing.

Recently, Young Thug shared a tribute post honoring Rich Homie Quan, posting an old clip of the two together while insisting he never switched up on his former collaborator. However, the post quickly sparked criticism from people close to Quan, including affiliate Rich Homie Monta and Quan’s brother, Rich Homie Dre.

The backlash prompted Young Thug to respond publicly through a series of Instagram Story posts on Friday, May 8.

In one message, Thug addressed claims surrounding Quan’s alleged willingness to cooperate against him during the YSL RICO case.

“@richhomiedre tell them he was about to take the stand on me the week he died since it’s a lie,” Thug wrote, according to reposts shared online by DJ Akademiks. Despite the tension, he also added that he still loved Quan and wished he were still alive.

The Atlanta rapper continued with additional emotional statements directed toward Quan’s family, particularly his parents. Thug emphasized that he had always shown respect and support toward Quan’s father and defended himself against accusations tied to the late rapper’s struggles.

He also blamed those around Quan for allegedly enabling substance abuse, claiming he frequently encouraged Quan to stop drinking and taking pills. While the comments generated major discussion online, they also highlighted the unresolved pain and complicated history surrounding the former rap duo.

The situation is especially tragic considering Rich Homie Quan had reportedly spoken positively about the possibility of reconnecting with Young Thug shortly before his death. In a previous interview, Quan acknowledged that the two still had unreleased music together and expressed openness to having a conversation in the future.

At their peak, Young Thug and Rich Homie Quan helped define a major era in Atlanta rap. Songs released during their Rich Gang run became influential staples of melodic trap music and helped shape the sound of hip-hop throughout the decade.

Now, years after their fallout and following Quan’s untimely passing, emotions surrounding their relationship remain deeply divided among fans, friends, and family members alike.
